Hello everyone,
Fall is officially here. Around Fire Station that means cool weather, falling leaves, pumpkin spice (hmm, maybe I'll pass on that one) and, lest we all forget it, daylight savings time ends. But you know what else it meanse? A brand new update for Fire Station online! 🎉
Fire Station now uses Google Maps#
When entering the address for a call, Google Maps is now used to provide map data. This includes support for satellite imagery.
A new map type picker has been added to the top-left allowing you to switch between the street map ("Map") or satellite view.
When printing a call that includes maps, the map type selected while editing the call is also used in the PDF printout. What you see online is the same as what you see when printing.
Across Fire Station, anywhere a map is used the satellite imagery option is available. This includes the hydrant and pre-plan location maps.
New Options for Printing NERIS Calls#
When printing a NERIS call you may now choose to exclude certain sections from the PDF. This can be useful if your department must provide a report but certain information should be excluded.
Use the Check All or Check None options to quickly include or exclude all available sections in the PDF.
Enhancements for Apparatus Checks#
A number of changes have been made to the Apparatus Checks module to smooth out some rough edges.
Read-Only Completed Checks#
First, after a check is completed it can no longer be edited. You may still open the check but you will notice that all of the fields are grayed out and disabled.
It is possible to undo submission of the check if you made a mistake and need to edit something. You must have the Can Delete Completed Checks permission in order to do this.
Start and Completed Times#
The time a check is started and the time it is completed is now tracked. This can be useful for record keeping purposes and to make sure you truck checks are taking the amount of time you'd expect.
Description and Comment for Checklist Items#
You can now add a description and a comment for your checklist items. These can be used to provide helpful instructions or other context for the folks completing the apparatus check.
Deleting Apparatus#
In the Edit Inventory page you now have an option to delete an apparatus. This delete hides the apparatus from any future apparatus checks or calls.
Inventory & Hydrant Imports#
We've expanded the import functionality, which was available for importing personnel, to include inventory and hydrants. You will see a new Import ... button on any page that supports importing.
Each import provides a template spreadsheet for you to fill out showing you what fields are available. Pay special attention to any column marked as red or blue. These are used to identify records already in Fire Station so that duplicates are not created when you import.
Import support has been added for all inventory types (PPE, SCBAs, Ropes, Ladders, ...etc) and for Hydrants.
